Jake DeSpain is a Taylor County student majoring in mass communication at Campbellsville University where he is a staff writer on the Camus Times. In one of the winter publications, he wrote what he feels are the most annoying words and phrases of all time - listing them in no particular order, but encouraging speakers of the English language to drop them - NOW! He lists 10 of them - words and phrases he feels have run their course and need to be eliminated, immediately. First on his list of 10 is this: "Just sayin': Why is it when we give our opinion on something that may offend someone else do we say "just sayin'"? Is this supposed to make our comment less offensive? It is time we just muster up the courage to give our opinion. Period." It and a traditional Eastern Redbud stand side by side but the White one is in really bad health and I wanted to record its beauty for posterity.
