Kristin Barnett of Louisville holds a nearly 30-inch striped bass caught from Lake Cumberland late last summer while fishing with Jeff Bardroff of JBs Guide Service. The recent warm weather has striped bass in the lake hungry and on the prowl.

Setting up business at the Farmers Market on the Square Saturday was Adair County Elementary School student Seth Murphy, at left. He created all the products he had for sale. With him are his Mom, Jessica "Little Bit", center, and his ACES classmate who was also a shopper, Summer Rowe, at right.

White violets joining flower collection

White violets have come to the yard later than the purple ones, but they are spreading out, especially in shady areas, making for a pretty scene.

Pills in the parking lot

This pill, three views, was found in the parking area at Rockhouse Bottom recently. According to law enforcement, it looks like Suboxone, a brand of prescription meds used in the treatment of people addicted to opioids - illegal and/or prescription.
