The Royal Paulownia trees are in bloom this week 2019-04-27 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Each spring I have to re-learn the name of the Paulownia tree, or Royal Paulownia, or, Royal Princess Tree. I searched until I found the last word on the trees by Billy Joe Fudge where he wrote that the "Paulownia is a tree of Asian origin that was imported to this country and planted as an ornamental. Although it is a very unique tree with lavender blooms and whitish, silvery, smooth bark it is rarely planted in landscapes but ends up there a lot as an act of nature. It is now naturalized in much of the Eastern and Southern United States." I'm so glad to have his knowledge!
