Hannah Minshall to sing May 16th, and says, Choir Rocks!

Hannah Minshall, seventh grader at ACMS, will be singing Soprano in the ACHS Choir performance May 16, 2019 at 7pmCT at the Columbia United Methodist Church. She is the daughter of Susan and Kory Minshall of Columbia.

Hannah writes, "I've been singing since I could talk. What I love most about singing is there is a song for every mood.

"I would like to thank my friends and family for all of their support, whether it is singing with me or anything else. They have always been my motivation and I want to thank them. I hope to see you at our concert.. Choir rocks!"

Mountain Laurel growing wild in the area

It has been a family tradition to search out Mountain Laurel each spring. This pretty group of blooming plants was discovered atop the banks of South Fork of the Little Barren River in Metcalfe County. The shrub can also be seen along the Jericho Cliffs near Holmes Bend in Adair County, as well as at the Green River Visitors Center in Taylor County.

Epicurean Kentuckian: Chuletas Mexicanas

There are a few really handy words to know in Spanish, such as hola, gracias, and chuletas, for "chops." These grilled pork chops from Fiesta Mexico of Columbia are served piled with grilled peppers and onions, plus generous portions of rice, beans, and tortillas.
