Seeing artist Henrietta Scott's work in this blossom
2019-05-14 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Some will glance at this picture and move on, bored by just another flower, but I see the artistry of retired Adair County High School art teacher Henrietta Scott whose careful attention to every line and shadow of detail reproduced works such as this when she taught, and later in her studio.

ACMS Choir Member Kailey Garmon will sing in Concert
2019-05-14 - Columbia, KY - Photo from music director Ginna Franklin. Kailey Garmon, seventh grade ACMS Choir member, is the daughter of Alica and Cameron Garmon of Columbia.
She writes, "I have been singing since I was 3 years old. When I was 10 years old and I sang at my church, that's when I figured out I can sing.
"What I love about singing is that I hope this will be my career. I sing Soprano.
I want to say thank you to my dad for being there for my support and loving me for who I am.
"This is my first year in Choir since the 5th grade. I've always wanted to be in Choir. Ever since I was a little girl I loved to sing. I hope anyone who sees this will come to the concert on May 16th at 7pm at the Columbia UMC."

Not a pretty sight
2019-05-14 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, columbiamagazine.com. Right after the spring mowing of this field, big birds of prey started circling and soon landed near the Town Creek in Columbia, having found what were likely baby animals that didn't escape the blade. These birds were the red topped Turkey Vultures, known to eat only dead animals, and thankfully not the black vultures which target young living animals.

Ramirez -- who retired the side in order four times during the game -- once again showed why she was named Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Year. After giving up a leadoff single, Ramirez retired the next three batters, including the last on her eighth strikeout of the game.
