This is a glimpse of the protected history inside the Trabue Russell House - the campus of Lindsey Wilson College with the administration building in the center. Flowers are fresh from the garden for the weekend open house event.

Historian Charles Murphy at open house

Charles Murphy spent quite some time reading the thorough descriptions under pictures of past Adair Countians who played prominent roles in local history, all recently updated by Vonnie Kolbenschlag. A lifelong student of history, Charles was well pleased with the Trabue Russell House at the weekend opening.

A weekend visit to Columbia's JMH rose garden

Some visitors to the weekend opening of the historic Trabue Russell House spent more time inside where keepsakes are showcased with information about our past, but I was called to the Julia Miller Horton Rose Garden. A light Sunday afternoon wind stirred every petal of every flower and made for a shimmering scene. - LW

Ryan Montgomery shares new Piccolo guitar

Ryan Montgomery shared his recent purchase, a steel string Piccolo acoustic guitar, with friends. It is small, similar in size to a ukulele, however, the sound is that of a guitar, especially when it is in the hands of an experienced musician. Ryan is to be congratulated on having been accepted into the University of Kentucky Pharmacy School. He begins this August.

Trabue Russell House open to visitors

Visitors were able to tour the Trabue Russell House this weekend. Diane Wallace was among the guests with her mother and said she was so glad they'd been able to see the house and learn more about its part in local history. The new flag was just placed by the City of Columbia.

Pink Locust in bloom

The Locust trees with white blossoms have already flowered and leafed out, however, the pink ones are in full bloom in eastern Adair County.

Former Police Chief Edwin Taylor honored by City

Last week was National Police week and Mayor Pam Hoots and staff honored former Police Chief Edwin Taylor for his service. His photograph will be placed in hallway at the police station. A proclamation was made for the event. Mark Harris, former Chief, and Jason Cross current City Police Chief, were in Attendance.
