Missing Man Ceremony
 2019-05-27 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Tiffany Kessler. VFW Post 6097 held a Memorial Day event in honor of those who have died while serving their country and those who are Missing in Action.
During the Missing Man Ceremony, "Reaper", a member of the US Veterans Motorcycle Club, read the emotional poem entitled POW/MIA Remembrance Table. Ted Caldwell lit the candle during his part of the ceremony.

Elders called it Decoration Day as it originated in the years following the Civil War. Memorial Day became an official federal holiday in 1971. Americans spend the day in many ways, by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and/or participating in parades.
