2019-05-31 - Adair Co., KY - Photo by Billy Joe Fudge.
These little boogers can give quite a start to even a seasoned Woodsman; especially while that seasoned woodsman is traipsing around in Copperhead and Rattlesnake country.

I must say that my experience over the years has tempered my "leap backwards five feet in a single bound" overreaction, to a "Whoa! Oh okay", reaction. Thank God for neural pathways built and more moderate, associated muscle memory reactions.

I surely would hate for the Rescue Squad to come out and find me at the bottom of a 30 foot cliff caused by a fall perpetuated by a backwards leap from a terrapin!
