County business owner defends Sunday alcohol sales

“We’ve been serving alcohol at Anderson’s Pizzeria for two years now and I have not had one incident. Moderation is the key to everything,” said restaurant owner John Thomas. Located in the county and previously unable to sell alcohol on Sundays, Thomas said, “How do you think I feel when I walk out into my parking lot and look to the right and see Five Star selling it and look to the left and see the Mexican restaurant selling it? Am I supposed to compete with that?”

CU honors Cumberland County teaching excellence

Cumberland County Schools’ teachers were honored at Campbellsville University’s recent Excellence in Teaching Award Ceremony. Dr. Donna Hedgepath, far left, provost and vice president for academic affairs, and Dr. Lisa Allen, sixth from left, dean of the School of Education, presented the awards. From left are: Hedgepath; Dr. Kirk Biggerstaff, superintendent; Erika Murphy, Cumberland County Elementary School; Tiffany Riddle, Cumberland County Middle School, Kim Capps, Cumberland County High School; Allen; Lisa Perdue, Cumberland County Elementary School principal; Jeanie Bandy, Cumberland County Middle School principal; and Jason Dodson, Cumberland County High School principal. Teachers are selected for this honor by their schools to receive Campbellsville University's Excellence in Teaching Award. This is the 33rd annual ceremony held on the Saturday after commencement.

Allan Parnell and daughter Cynthia open CDL school

Adair County native Allan Parnell, Founder and Chairman of Mister "P" Express, and his daughter, President and CEO of Mister "P" Express, Cynthia Parnell Collier, are proud to announce the opening of the Parnell Commercial Driving School. They started driver training in 2006 and as it grew, they determined the training school should expand to fill a need for a hundred thousand unfilled jobs in the trucking industry market.

New Parnell Commercial Driving School opens

The Mister "P" Express family held the grand opening of the Parnell Commercial Driving School, a certified CDL program and commercial driving school in May. The state-of-the-art training center on its 35-acre campus in River Ridge, Jeffersonville, IN, will allow for up to a hundred students at a time.
