By somewhat putting my life on the line I was able to calm this common Killdeer down enough for her to show off her speckled eggs. This bird camouflages her babies by making her nest among gravel. Though the sweet, but protective, couples may not mate for life they typically form close bonds and remain together for the entire year or for several years.
