Goodnight, Columbia

2019-06-23 - Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Tiffany Kessler, columbiamagazine.com.
Welcome banners, crinkled from recent rains and strong winds, still look stunning near the downtown lamp posts. The sun was setting and the calmness surrounding the square faintly whispered “Goodnight, Columbia”. - TK

Artist LaVonia Olson at Homeplace on Green River

2019-06-22 - Taylor County, KY - Photo from Tim Smith, President Adair Arts Council.
The painter sitting on rocks at the Homeplace on Green River is LaVonia Olson, an art student at Lindsey Wilson College who has been attending the Adair Arts Council meetings. Currently there's another paint day planned at the Homeplace for September 30, 2019. I certainly am grateful to Homeplace for their support of the arts in our community. The Adair Arts Council meetings are held on the campus of LWC and are open to the public. -- Tim Smith, President Adair Arts Council

Bird of Kentucky: Flycatcher

2019-06-22 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Pen.
Possibly a yellow bellied flycatcher, although better birdologists may want to weigh in on this one, as distinguishing among the many species of flycatchers is a difficult chore, and this bird didn't stay on the perch long enough to get another angle.

Scenic Kentucky: Pike's Ridge

2019-06-22 - Taylor Co., KY - Photo by Pen.
With all the recent rain, the old logging road that follows the ridge from the hunter's area parking lot was too wet to hike, so I had to make do with a photo from the trailhead.
