All About Birds says this about the Eastern Kingbird (Tyrannus tyrannus): "The scientific name Tyrannus means 'tyrant, despot, or king,' referring to the aggression kingbirds exhibit with each other and with other species. City council reading: Annex Pinewood 2019-06-26 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Tiffany Kessler. By Tiffany Kessler Columbia City Council votes 3-2 on first reading to annex Pinewood Shopping Center into city limits. The issue was debated for around 15 minutes during Wednesday evening's special called meeting and included a motion by council member Dr. Ronald Rogers to postpone a first reading until the city receives a formal request asking to be annexed into city limits by the majority of property owners. The shopping center is currently owned by three entities. Rogers and council member Sharon Payne voted no to a first reading while council members Mark Harris, June Parson, and Craig Dean voted yes on the action.
