Birds of Kentucky: American Robin

2019-06-28 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Pen.
A juvenile American robin, snacking on the wild cherries which are ripening this week. The tree was full of birds this morning, including Cedar Waxwings, Grackles, and small yellow songbirds, but only the young robins were brave, numerous, or naive enough to feast in the open.

Marshall Barnett tilling his garden

2019-06-28 - Adair Co., KY - Photo by Tiffany Kessler.
Marshall Barnett has put in the hard work to produce one of the prettiest, most well-tended gardens in the county. Located off south Hwy 55, it has all kinds of vegetables, fruit, and is even lined with bright red Zinnias.

Flocked by green tomatoes and high rising corn he was trying to complete some tilling. Barnett did take a short break to check on his cantaloupes and watermelons which have done well with all the rain. When asked if he sells anything he grows, he gave a joyful grin and said he enjoys giving most of the produce away to others.

Clouds gathered over Greater Bliss, KY

2019-06-27 - New Columbia - Photo by Vicky Pike.
Miss Vicky writes, "This cloud passed over the Pampered Angus Ranch a few minutes ago - a little after 6pmCT. I rushed to get things in the barn and windows up but so far very little rain. Think we might have missed the worst. I could see the rain falling near Santa Fe Church but didn’t reach us."
