The tree was full of birds this morning, including Cedar Waxwings, Grackles, and small yellow songbirds, but only the young robins were brave, numerous, or naive enough to feast in the open. Marshall Barnett has put in the hard work to produce one of the prettiest, most well-tended gardens in the county. Located off south Hwy 55, it has all kinds of vegetables, fruit, and is even lined with bright red Zinnias. Flocked by green tomatoes and high rising corn he was trying to complete some tilling. Barnett did take a short break to check on his cantaloupes and watermelons which have done well with all the rain. When asked if he sells anything he grows, he gave a joyful grin and said he enjoys giving most of the produce away to others.
