The dedication of the Betty Dobbins Heilman Student Wellness Center will be in Ransdell Chapel on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 11amET with the groundbreaking ceremony for the E. Bruce Heilman Welcome Center to follow. Otto Tennant, senior vice president for operations and administration (COO), said the wellness center is "something we have had on our wish list for years. We are thankful to the Heilman family and for the benefits it will provide the students." Following the groundbreaking ceremony will be a luncheon in Winters Dining Hall. The open, mowed walk needs a couple of signs so it's easier to find. Trail Town status and its needs for the future of trails in Columbia will be on the agenda for the August 5, 2019 City Council meeting when it will be considered for Parks and Recreation possibilities. Work around the Russell Creek bridge not Trail Town work 2019-07-09 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Recent work under and beside the Hwy 206 bridge over Russell Creek is not the wished-for river bank cleanup for Trail Town put ins. The work tempted passers by to discuss if maybe it might be the creation of a place for entry to put kayaks in, but the workers said they were there for the state to clean out the trees and brush that was hung at the base of the bridge from all the high water this year.
