Long detour planned for KY 100 in Monroe Co. 2019-08-28 - Monroe Co., KY - Photo courtesy KTC. A project to repair a slide on KY 100 in Monroe County will close the road near mile point 24 about a mile south of KY 243. The closure is expected to begin on Sept. 9 and the roadway is expected to reopen on Sept. 23. The detour will utilize KY 163, KY 90 and KY 3115. The county was named for John Breckinridge (1760-1806), a Kentucky Attorney General, state legislator, United States Senator, and United States Attorney General. Traveling through Kentucky on a rain-soaked day with phenomenal cloud coverage, we found ourselves in Irvington, a city in Breckinridge County. The train tracks were stunning and make me forever sad that Adair was never able to obtain the type of transport. Near the CSX tracks sits a pair of old grain silos. I spotted what I at first thought were small crawdads swimming along the bottom of shallow pools alongside the Ohio River at the Falls of the Ohio State Park, but when I checked my camera later, I did not recognize the tiny creatures in the photos.
