Several groups volunteered during in the Day of Caring 2019-09-25 - Adair County, KY - Photo from City Hall, Columbia, KY. The Day of Caring, a time of service to others, resulted in "a wonderful turnout from our local churches as well as individuals who just showed up to be a part of this special day," said Mayor Pam Hoots. The day was planned in advance so citizens could ask for help where needed and groups like this one could organize to help. More than one ramp was built during the day. Maury Lewis wrote in recently about the dangers on Highway 55 North where turns are necessary in the midst of traffic moving at fast speeds. She felt more turn options were needed at this spot. I took the photo to help demonstrate and echo her words. The direction of this picture is heading south from the Green River Industrial Park, looking toward Betty's OK Country Cooking. The vehicle in the center lane is trying to turn in to Dr. Giles' office and North Century Pharmacy. There is a new quick stop gas station being built now will also need turn lane safety. Luckey Jr. and Adair County Judge Executive Gale Cowan signed an official proclamation this morning at Columbia City Hall declaring September 25th 'Lindsey Wilson College All in for LWC Day.' Lindsey Wilson College Board Chairman Allan Parnell along with other trustees are pledging $1,000,000 for scholarship aid to the college if alumni, friends and members of the college community can raise 4,000 gifts of any amount in the 48 hour period of September 24-25.
