New home of Adair County Fairgrounds

A group of representatives from the Adair County Fair Association took time to join Bank of Columbia leaders for a photo at the location of the new home of the Adair County Fairgrounds. There will be activity here in 2020 even though a lot of land clearing must be done between now and then. There may possibly be a great Christmas tree opportunity here, where for a donation to the Fair Association, a beautiful pine tree can grace your home. That is one fundraiser idea discussed as the group begins to make official plans for the new 10+ acres in the Columbia Adair Industrial Park.

Adair County Fair home is now across from IMO Pump/Delaval

The next time you turn off Highway 55 South into the original Industrial Park, pass by what was OshKosh/Morgan Smith, and before you turn right to the Little League Park, pause here and gaze at where the new Adair County Fairgrounds home will be located - directly across Industrial Park Road from the entry to IMO Pump (formerly Delaval) thanks to the Bank of Columbia. At 4:30pm Wednesday, September 25, 2019, the Bank of Columbia Board of Directors announced the donation of over 10 acres of land in the Columbia Adair County Industrial Park to the Fairground Association.

Enjoying the reading nook at the Science Center

Reading their chosen book, Amy Waggener is surrounded by curious little girls at the downtown Louisville Science Center. Who would have thought how fun a reading nook could be crafted in a circle with carpet on the bottom, all the better for climbing, and a good light in the top. This is one of three floors full of entertaining learning experience options at the Center.

Cumberland County also has restored a one-room school

Jeffrey Cowan, freshman at Lindsey Wilson College, chose to work on the Rosenwald School restoration project during the annual Malvena Farkle day of student service in Adair County. He said his hometown, Burkesville, also has protected a one-room school so he was familiar with them when project leader, teacher Dr. Rodney White (on the ladder), shared history of the school before work began. Fellow student, Brandon Gibson, is working behind Jeffrey, and a whole team of students (in a separate photo) worked on the front side. Dr. White said make sure to say thank you to Lindsey Wilson College for sending all the energy to help on this project. Another day of volunteer work is set for Saturday, October 5, 2019.
