Conflicting signs of winter

We're not sure if the woolly worms just can't agree, or if we should take this as a sign that Eastern Kentucky will have a remarkably different winter in 2019-2020. This woolly worm seen this weekend in Russell, KY, doesn't match up with the solid one photographed locally earlier this year.

Santa Fee Baptist Church recruiting its family back

Santa Fee Baptist Church is waiting to welcome its families, present members and new members who are looking for a peaceful place in which to worship. It has been in the spotlight for the past two weeks as volunteers have worked to restore the Flatwoods Rosenwald School, shown behind the church at right. Sunday School starts at 10CT and Church Service at 11amCT.

Mrs. Lilly Lasley Duvall visits Flatwoods School and Church

Mrs. Lilly Duvall visited the restoration work on her one-room Flatwoods Grade School during volunteer service time. In this photo she gazes at the heat stove (thought to be a "water heater" by one young student there among volunteers) which she can remember students gathering wood for the morning fire before class time. She contributed to lunch food and shared memories.

Mottle believes new fall season should be celebrated

As placement options were being considered for this fall wreath, Mottle the Calico Cat, of Sano, climbed into the middle of it and stayed there until proper attention could be paid to the new season.

Beshear: Marijuana, Gaming, Teachers Pay, Health Insurance

Andy Beshear, present Attorney General and candidate for Kentucky Governor, visited with supporters at Saturday's Marion County Ham Days celebration and at the Casey County Apple Festival. He made a campaign stop in Campbellsville at Taylor County Middle School and went on record that if he is the next governor he will legalize Medical Marijuana, expand gaming, give all teachers a raise and guarantee health coverage for all Kentuckians.
