Cayce Davenport finishes mural for Downtown Days

2019-10-13 - Columbia - Photo from the artist.
Artist and art teacher Cayce Davenport completed the City of Columbia mural just in time for the weekend Downtown Days Festival. She said, “It was great to watch all the people (of all ages) get excited about it and get pictures!” Among those to get photos made in front of it before dark were the artist and her son Emmett. The mural is located in the little park space just off the square beside the Columbia Police Department. It is most visible when driving or walking into town from Campbellsville Street.

2019-10-13 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Columbia's Downtown Days make for great homecoming moments and this year's festival was a great one. Guests stopping by the ColumbiaMagazine.com headquarters included good friends Susan Tesseneer Walters, pictured here, and Davaajargal Dorjsuren from Campbellsville. They found a lot to enjoy at the festival around the historic Adair County Courthouse and invited us to attend the Campbellsville University homecoming next weekend, October 19, 2019.

Fall Color on Green River Lake

2019-10-13 - Taylor Co., KY - Photo by Wayne Baxter.
Wayne writes, "The fall colors around Green River Lake seem to be different this year. There is a lot more brown and less red, yellow and gold, as in this view of the old Baker's Branch bridge in the Elk Horn area on Oct 10. I suspect it is due to the least rainfall and hottest September in modern history."

Succesful deer hunt

2019-10-13 - Central Kentucky - Photo by Melissa Stone.
Melissa writes, "To my deer hunting friends & family - I shot this beauty early this morning and - if I am lucky (and he is lucky), I'll shoot him again next year! I have nothing against hunters or hunting; and I do okay with either, but I personally prefer a Nikon to a Remington! I'll withhold the location to protect his safety."
