First Santa visit came at Celebration of Lights

The first opportunity for these three young ladies to advise Santa about their Christmas 2019 wishes came at the traditional Celebration of Lights on Main Street in Shelbyville. From left are sister-cousins Tillie and Hailey Waggener, and good friend Olivia Cissell.

Santa will make a stop in Columbia at the annual Christmas in Columbia celebration coming up on December 7, 2019 in the Holloway Wellness Center at Lindsey Wilson College. He is scheduled to arrive at 1:30pmCT.

ACHS Marching Band Week proclaimed in Columbia

The week of November 18 through November 22, 2019 has been proclaimed ACHS Band Week in Columbia by Mayor Pamela Hoots. The Adair County High School Marching Band was recently named the 2019 KMEA Class AAA State Champion. This was the band’s 24th state championship. Hoots said, "We appreciate the commitment of these students, staff, and parents to our community." Pictured with the Mayor are Baron Burton, Noah Flowers, Kara Turner, Sam Kemp, Band Director Tom Case, Dylon Mann, Tanner Stonecypher, Caroline Hardwick, Matt, and Michael Hancock.

J.O.Y. Ministries asks for your gifts this season

It is the time of year for J.O.Y. Ministries to undertake an annual fundraiser for the general fund in order to continue the ministries. They have chosen the theme "Brighten Our Community with J.O.Y." and set a goal to raise $12,000 to cover basic costs for the year. The theme invites donors to "brighten Adair County with God's light through a financial gift, so that others may see our deeds and we may glorify God (Matthew 5:16)." -- Maggie Coleman, treasurer

This image was taken the same day as the cattle pic from a few days ago (Part I). Jerry Watson, Joe's Dad, drove me back on the farm to do some photography. I was a ways off when this image presented itself, but fortunately I had my zoom lens on and was able to capture the scene. "M," his dog, ever at Jerry's side, I think "steals the show" in this pic.- RE

LWC Volleyball takes MSC Tournament title with 3-0 win

Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson volleyball captured its fifth straight Mid-South Conference Tournament title on Saturday with a 3-0 win over second-seeded Thomas More (KY) at Bowling Green Arena.
