Laconia Olson, at right, told Nita Hesford at the recent Lindsey Wilson College appreciation luncheon, "I wouldn't be here without your scholarship gifts." Nita told her, "Honey, you are to be admired for coming to college - at any age. Aging people tend to focus on being old but I say 'You're here aren't you?'" She will soon turn 90.Katrina gave Nita back from New Orleans to Adair County, where her roots are. She calls herself 'the Last of The Tutts' - Five brothers and one sister, Frances Glasgow, have passed away. Laconia is part of the Olson family from Glasgow with a longstanding tradition of graduating from Lindsey Wilson College. Her Great grandmother Bertha Hamilton was in the first graduating class. Both daughters will be graduates of LWC when she and daughter Esther join former graduate, daughter Ruth, in the May commencement ceremony. Two groups came to speak in the Open Comments section of the December City Council meeting Monday evening. Jason Upchurch came back for a decision on the 911 Operators needs for expanded fixtures. His request was unanimously approved. And Dustin Brockman and his supporters came to request one more month before the Council gives final vote on the property zoning issue at 511 Burkesville Street. His request was also given unanimous approval for that time frame in which to bring proof of neighbor consent, if that is possible. The sale is open to the public and is scheduled to take place at the Adair County Judicial Center on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at 10amCT. The proceeds of this sale will be distributed among the various law enforcement agencies that assisted in the drug investigation that resulted in the forfeiture, including the Kentucky State Police, the Adair County Sheriff's Department, and other law enforcement agencies in southcentral Kentucky, as well as the 29th Judicial Circuit's Asset Forfeiture Account that is maintained by the Attorney General's Office.
