Scenic Kentucky: Sand Cave Trail

2019-12-12 - Hart Co., KY - Photo by Pen.
Just inside the boundary of Mammoth Cave National Park, Sand Cave Trail marks the site where hundreds of people labored day and night in 1925 to try and rescue cave explorer Floyd Collins, who was trapped in a narrow passage of Sand Cave, 60 feet below the surface. The short trail leads to the site of the valiant, but unsuccessful, rescue attempt.
