Candlelight service planned for Jean Charles
 2020-01-28 - Columbia, KY - Photo courtesy Lindsey Wilson College. Jean Charles, LWC communication freshman and member of the Blue Raider Track & Field Program, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020, at a Louisville hospital, after an accident in Larue County on January 19, 2020.
A candlelight service for Jean Charles will be held at 8:30pmCT, on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, in the Norma and Glen Hodge Center for Discipleship, 402 Helen Flatt Drive, Columbia, KY.

Visiting after HGR winter meeting

Mary and Dick Knight, at left, talked with the guest speaker at the Homeplace on Green River winter meeting Saturday night at the Extension Office who was introduced as Becky Burris-Nash-Rowe. Becky was instrumental in the beginning of the Homeplace project, a shared project of Adair, Green and Taylor counties, located at 5807 New Columbia Road, Campellsville. She shared memories of many of the individuals who gave volunteer time to help make HGR what it is today, including her mother, Martha Burris Martin.

Remembering the work of the Homeplace since 2001

Becky Burris Nash Rowe was guest speaker remembering the start of the Homeplace and its growth since its inception in September, 2001. Homeplace has a mission to protect and promote rural American culture through the sustainability of agriculture and natural resources, utilizing education, conservation, and the economic opportunities of agritourism.

Welcome to Homeplace on Green River 2020

Billy Joe Fudge, President of the Homeplace on Green River Board, welcomed the large crowd in attendance at the annual winter meeting Saturday evening and introduced new events coming this year along with many of the regulars from past work and events. HGR is a shared project of Adair, Green and Taylor counties, located at 5807 New Columbia Road, in Taylor County. The farm is being restored by volunteers and is administered by a Board of Directors representing all three counties. Seated to his left are Ed and Jody Huffman. Slides ran in the background throughout the event showing how things were at the start in 2001 and the current state of buildings, grounds and events.
