This tablecloth she thought was extra special because of the way the napkin fit into the pocket of the teapot.

She said she and her daughter make many jam cakes around the holidays - she makes the icing and Kim makes the cakes from their perfected Kentucky recipe.

She said southern foods are a fusion of Native Kentuckians, Europeans who settled in the state and African Americans who were brought here. "Unless you are a native," she said, "all of us are immigrants" and all brought food management methods and attitudes with us.
