Happy birthday, Shirley Harris!

Shirley Harris enjoyed birthday celebrations last week - she is pictured here with her son Mike when he took her out for lunch in New Columbia. Shirley said of her 84th birthday that it felt like 64, only her son Terry in New York said she couldn't claim that because that's his age.

TCIS Academic Team placed second at District
 2020-02-16 - Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Maddie Gumm, Marketing Director, Taylor County School District. The Taylor County Intermediate School Academic Team placed second overall at the District Governors’ Cup in Green County on Saturday, February 8, 2020. The following students also took home individual honors: Karly Hayes, 4th grade, 1st in Arts and Humanities; Madelynn Yates, 5th grade, 2nd in Composition and 3rd in Language Arts; Soham Patel, 5th grade, 2nd in Social Studies; Hayden Hawkins, 5th grade, 2nd Language Arts; Zackary Pourheydarian, 5th grade: 2nd in Math and 5th in Science. The team is coached by Jayne Litton and Kelsie Pepper.

Remembrances at the genealogy program

Harriett Wheeler Loy in the photo at left was remembered for her foods and the linen tablecloth at right which was on the table when Mary Anne Loy first met her mother-in-law. The keepsakes and samples of recipes were part of the genealogy program, Historic Kentucky Kitchen.

Campbellsville Fire-Rescue called to Old Hodgenville Road
 2020-02-15 - Taylor County, KY - Photo by Chris Taylor, Chief, Campbellsville Fire-Rescue. Campbellsville Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a report of heavy smoke in area of Old Hodgenville Road. A second alarm was initiated for water supply and tanker support from Taylor County Fire Department. Upon arrival firefighters found a large barn with heavy fire showing. Firefighters extinguished the fire and provided overhaul to the barn. There is heavy fire and smoke damage to the entire barn. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No civilian or firefighter injuries weere reported. There was one calf that perished in the fire.
