Condemnation process is underway 2020-03-06 - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Notices have been placed on all entrances to the old Lerman’s building on the Public Square as the process of condemnation by the City of Columbia moves forward. Owners have not responded to any previous notices except to send word through a third party that the City has more money to replace the windows that the owners do and the City should replace them. The City continues to study what other locations are doing to minimize the number of empty or abandoned buildings. This particular building looks to have been abandoned for several years and window panes are falling out on the Jamestown Street and Reed Street sides.
