The Brown Thrashers are back for the summer. Their song consists of rich musical phrases, each repeated two or three times. Sibley's says of brown thrashers that "no other bird has such clearly paired rhythm."

Kentucky Coronavirus Monitoring shows the following statistics about the state known at this time.

Number Tested: 1,866
Positive Cases: 104
Note: Data includes confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported to the The Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) at 4:30pmCT/5:30pmET daily.

The KDPH site states re the Coronavirus/COVID-19 that "Our State Health Operations Center is operating at Level 1, its highest activation level. This respiratory disease was first detected in a Kentucky resident on March 6, 2020."

Gabby Salyers won in regionals on two paintings

Two works by ACHS art student Gabby Salyers were awarded top honors in the Caveland Regional High School Art Competition held before the break. Between her two paintings - interior of a cave, at left, and bulldog, on the right - she received honors of first and second in painting and third place in drawing among the ten county schools participating.
