Vicky Pike writes, "This big piece of equipment showed up Saturday afternoon on the hill south of the Pampered Angus Ranch on Hwy 61S. The front field was surrounded by a black plastic barrier on two sides earlier in the week. Sign says Beavers Excavating. Not sure what the plan is yet but will be interesting to see what's next. Birds of Kentucky: Pileated Woodpecker 2020-05-10 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Hailey Waggener. When Hailey heard that there was a pileated woodpecker in the back yard, she was quick to grab binoculars and one of her late granddad's old cameras. After some debate about whether he could have consigned said camera to the parts bin with a sticky zoom lever (highly likely), or whether her breakfast donut had caused the problem (nearly equally likely, as she responsibly suggested), we managed to get enough buttons working to take a few photos of the wily bird in a neighbor's yard.
