Volunteers place flags at Haven Hill Cemetery

On Saturday morning 23 May 2020 a large group of members of Columbia Masonic Lodge, Masonic Demolay, Columbia VFW and VFW Auxiliary to place flag on the graves deceased veterans. Pictured is most of the group that placed the flags at Haven Hill, and at the same time a group of near the same size was placing the flags at the City Cemetery.

Cliff Hopper placing flags on Memorial Day weekend

Cliff Hopper, a Vietnam Veteran and member of VFW 6097 studies a stone looking to confirm if this stone needed a flag. Cliff was one of the 20+ that were at Haven Hill placing the flags on the graves of deceased veterans. There was also a like number doing the same at the City Cemetery.

Case and Jay Luke helping out at family business

Case, age 8, and his little brother Jay Luke, 3, along with their trusty guard dog, can be found these days helping grandparents Nathan and Linda Jennings with operations at Petty's Supply, 5824 Burkesville Road, Columbia, Kentucky.

First church services held with care and caution

First church service in ten weeks since the shut down due to the Coronavirus was held with great caution at Columbia United Methodist Church Sunday, May 24, 2020. Before the church was opened, extensive cleaning was done and seating was controlled so that families could maintain safe social distance. Masks and hand sanitizer were provided at each entrance. Services were also held live online for all who were unable to attend in person.

Blindness hasn't stopped this educator

Lori Eubank, adjunct instructor in the School of Education, was named the recipient of the Challenger Award from the Student Government Association (SGA) during Campbellsville University's Honors and Awards Day video.

She has a long-standing background in education and due to her recent blindness, made the difficult decision to leave her position as administrator of Kentucky Christian Academy.

Eubank has had training on how to navigate her community with a cane, has learned new computer programs and has had training with her new guide dog, Gus.

She has a strong relationship with God and shows her faith and trust in Him every day.

Memorial Day 2020 at Columbia Cemetery

Cemeteries in Adair County were busy in the good weather today. This sign at the Columbia Cemetery gave directions for help with beautification - mail to PO Box 233, Columbia, KY 42728.
