Kentucky Color: Breathtaking
2020-05-28 - Adair Co., KY - Photo by Billy Joe Fudge. Billy Joe writes, "I've done well over 200 Kentucky Color's during the years thanks to my friend Ed's encouragement and the continuing support of Ed's family and the local phenomenon, Columbia Magazine. Usually no more than a few days goes by that I don't strike up a conversation with someone I do not know and when we get around to introducing ourselves, they immediately blurt out, 'you're that uh, that uh, that uh, Columbia Magazine guy!' Often they are so kind as to tell me how much they enjoy my 'stuff'. I am so blessed to be a part of a couple of things bigger than myself, Columbia Magazine and the amazing collection of plants, animals and people who are the guts and glory of the Great Wooded South. I'm so blessed to be able to call all of you my friends. Thanks for the ride!
Speaking of plants, this little flower is breathtaking. Beauty, they say, is in the eye of the beholder. If that is so, then you need to put me in the beholder category on this one.
I'm not often at a loss for words but I'll let the picture speak for itself and oh yes, I'll let you guys and gals come up with its name."

Cumberland County Jail contract continues
2020-05-28 - Columbia - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Before the Coronavirus shut down, issues were brought up in the Courthouse Annex meeting for discussion that would have to be finished in later meetings on the Internet. Cumberland County Judge Executive John Phelps spoke at the first March, 2020 Fiscal Court meeting during the discussion about the jail agreement, using the Adair County Regional Jail for Cumberland County prisoners. Phelps said then that Adair had always worked well with Cumberland County and he hoped that could continue as costs were being considered. The vote was finalized at the first May meeting of Adair Fiscal Court and it was in favor of continuing the contract. In the background in this photo is Adair Magistrate Chris Reeder.
