Response to letter requesting Naylor information

2020-05-29 - Columbia, KY - Photo from ACN archives research.
By JIM

This brief death notice for Miss Lela Naylor appeared on page one, column four, of the June 27, 1917 Adair County News. The notice carried no headline. This was the only mention of her passing found in The News, sequentially using the search terms Naylor, Nailor, Savannah (several spellings), Lela and Lelah.

It reads: "Miss Lela Naylor who was born and reared two miles from Columbia recently died in a hospital at San Antonia, Texas. Her remains were conveyed to Moody, Texas, for burial. She was a consecrated Christian woman, and leaves quite a number of relatives in Adair County. She had been making her home in Texas for quite a number of years.

Mr. J.S. Naylor who lives in Oklahoma and who visited here a few months ago is a brother of the deceased."

A piebald squirrel, spotted in Long Run park over the holiday weekend. Wikipedia has a page on piebald animals of all sorts. Farm World calls them "spirit squirrels," and says they are "rare as hen's teeth."
