Today, the students and staff of Adair County Schools are mourning the loss of one of their own. Vicki Leibeck-Owsley passed away overnight. She was a fierce friend, a compassionate role model, a selfless strong woman, and a kind soul. Vicki believed in the power of words, and today we find ourselves without words to express our loss or to offer up as comfort for her family. Her story isn't over. The next chapters have already been drafted through the many lives she has touched. Let's pay her tribute and lift up prayers for her family. The vigil for Vicki will be held tonight, Thursday, September 17, 2020, at: Circle drive and grassy lawn at ACHS at 7pmCT. In February of this year, Vicki Leibeck Owsley, pictured here with her husband Sean, was awarded the Kentucky Council of Teachers of English (KCTE) High School Teacher of the Year Award after having been nominated by student Christopher Stuchell. Around her work at Adair County High School and all through the year she has been in treatment fighting a rare form of pancreatic cancer.
