Closing out the Election Day 2020 in-person voting

Election Day 2020 is closed in Adair County. The day ended with no lines nor stress, except for the exhaustion of election officials.This was the only voting house today due to the COVID-19 pandemic which created the need for mail-in vote options and limited in-person options to avoid the spread of the disease. Mail-in votes postmarked with today’s date, June 23, 2020, will be counted until June 27, 2020.

Today, we would like to introduce Stephanie Fernandez from Caracas, Venezuela. Stephanie will be on the LWC women's tennis team this fall. She stays fit at home playing tennis, conditioning and studying for America. Her declared major is RTSM- Recreation Tourism Sports Management.

Sabine Eastham writes, "We are so looking forward to being able to welcome you in wonderful Adair County and our great College!"

Wildflowers of KY: Wild Bergamot

According to the Wikipedia entry for Monarda fistulosa, the wild bergamot or bee balm, is a wildflower in the mint family (Lamiaceae) widespread and abundant as a native plant in much of North America. ... Bee balm is the natural source of the antiseptic thymol, the primary active ingredient in modern commercial mouthwash formulas.

Processing votes on Primary Election Day, 2020

Plenty of Parking at the Annex

Election officers and staff have moved out of their parking spaces to make room for voters to enter through the back door of the Courthouse Annex if it's more convenient. That means there's parking for voters in the front, back and to the side.

Election workers and Deputies are stationed at each entrance to help with directions. For those with disabilities, drivers can pull up to the Greensburg Street doors for assistance and a totally step-free path to voting. This is a photo of the back of the Annex.

Perseverance

George writes, "It's interesting how often nature shows us an example of the positive result of determination, commitment and perseverance. This little Larkspur found an unlikely home among an almost impossible concrete barrier. The nearest visible soil is five feet from the flower's home. The small circle is not soil--it is a concrete plug. The flower has been happily blowing in the breeze for a week now."

Vote Here

If you haven't already mailed in your ballot or voted early in person, then today is the last day to make your vote count. The one place to vote in Adair County today, election day 2020, is The Adair county courthouse annex on the public square in Columbia. It is the single polling place open for in-person primary voting in this year of the Coronavirus pandemic. Just an hour after opening, there are no long lines.
