Epicurean Kentuckian: A fine idea for supper

Sometimes its good to swap things around. Pam said, "Just felt like having breakfast for supper." Scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, biscuits topped with sausage gravy, plus a side of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. And she said there was apple cobbler for dessert.

Day Lily vs Tiger Lily

Each year when photos of the brilliant orange summer lilies come in, we have the discussion of whether they are Tiger Lilies or Day Lilies. This side-by-side may help. On the left is the wonderful, wild Day Lily that volunteers by roadsides and in ditches. On the right is the traditional Tiger Lily that I remember appreciating in my Grandmother Marcum's yard. The Tiger Lily is the only one with the little black pearls that grow up the stalk at each leaf.

Coming down, big changes to the cityscape

Demo began today on the C.J. Holt service station property which will become the location for Columbia's new Dairy Queen. So far, passers by haven't been able to picture how the property design will be done since the frontage is divided by the stoplight controlling traffic at the meet up of Jamestown Street, Bomar Heights and Tutt Street.
