Hot Sauce on Watermelon

Ralph writes, "Granddaughters Natalie and Jade, during a recent visit to Papa and Granny's (Ralph and Glinda), brought along cousin Isabella Harvey and friend Charleigh Dews. Charleigh, the daughter of David and Leigh Dews, introduced all of them to hot sauce on watermelon?!? The Dews family is from Opp, Alabama, so we aren't sure if this is a Southern Thing, but cousin Isabella is quoted as saying, 'It ain't that bad!'

Special thanks to Bruce and Patsy Wilson for sharing their organically grown watermelons with us!"

According to Wikipedia, Commelina communis, "commonly known as the Asiatic dayflower, is an herbaceous annual plant in the dayflower family that gets its name because the blooms last for only one day."

Ironweed signals ending of summer season

Ironweed - Vernonia Fasciculata - is said to be so named because it has a tough stem. It is a popular pollinator for butterflies and signals the coming end of the summer season.
