Luci and Sandy making corner brighter

Who's behind the pretty flower boxes on the Square? These are two of the volunteers - Sandy Conover, at right, and daughter Luci Irvin. Their flowers catch the eye of those passing by on the corner of Burkesville Street and the Public Square with all kinds of blossoms including the pink Mandavilla climbing on the tall shrub behind them. In the background is their shop, Nanwood Market, which will be open tonight for the monthly late shopping event, To The Nines.

First visitor to the Library

September is quota hunt application month

This year, Kentucky will offer 38 quota deer hunts, pheasant hunts on three wildlife management areas (WMAs) and several waterfowl hunts on WMAs. The sandhill crane quota is for statewide hunting.

The application period for these quota hunts is the month of September. Applications and detailed information about hunts are available online at fw.ky.gov.
