Walking across a county in an hour 2020-09-08 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Just south of the Breeding Country Store, you find yourself entering Metcalfe County. Travel approximately 1 mile or so and you will re-enter Adair county. From that sign travel approximately a quarter of a mile and you will enter Cumberland County at dividing Ridge Road. It's as if the road signs can't make up their minds. It was on Ed Waggener's bucket list to walk across Metcalfe County and he met that goal, pictured here in 2016, laughing and waving as he neared the finish line - my assigned post. Meet Mrs. Bruton 2020-09-07 - Columbia - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. This Cardinal Climber flowering vine was a gift to Mitzi and Ricky Bault some years ago from a beloved neighbor whose name was Mrs. Bruton. So now, whichever one of them spots the first of season blossoms on it tells the other, "Mrs. Bruton is blooming." It is also a favorite of humming birds. Who knows, maybe they also circulate the news in their humming bird communications that "Mrs. Bruton" is blooming on the clothes line post.
