By JIM In 1930, state representative Ralph Gilbert was on the stump both for his own re-election and for the Democratic interests in Kentucky in general. He previously had served four consecutive terms as a U.S. Congressman before losing the seat in the 1928 election. This ad appeared in the October 28, 1930 Adair County News. The following week, the paper referred to his October 31 Courthouse speech as "one of the best addresses Mr. Gilbert has ever made in Columbia."
