TRH garden flowers gifted to nursing home

The last of the blossoms from the gardens at Columbia's Trabue Russell House were snipped and tucked into plastic bottle vases for delivery Friday to the nursing home to be made into bright bouquets. For information about the Garden Club for next season, contact the City of Columbia 270-384-2501.

JIM writes, "This appeared in the October 28, 1930 edition of the Adair County News. At that time, Mr. Herschel Taylor owned (or possibly co-owned with Dallas Stotts) the Cafe. Founded in 1916 by Mr. L.M. Young, it was located near the west corner of the Square."

JIM writes, "An ad found in the October 21, 1930 edition of The News. The Economy Store, owned by Mr. Sheldon Willock of Campbellsville, was located on the northeast side of the square, next door to the venerable Creel Building (on the exit corner of Campbellsville Street and the Square). With Mr. Reed Logan as manager, the store had opened in the summer of 1929 in a just-completed business house erected by Mrs. Elma Page Frazer."
