Sculptures by Adair Co. artist David Waltz at KAC 2020-11-21 - Berea, KY - Photo by George Kolbenschlag. Adair Artist David Waltz has two of his sculptures on display at Berea's Kentucky Artisans Center. The one at left is titled "Jane Goodall." Goodall was known for her work with chimpanzees and spent much of her adult life in Africa studying them. She named this fellow "Graybeard"and he was the first chimp that befriended her. The sculpture at right is titled "Harriet Tubman." Tubman was an American abolitionist and political activist. Born into slavery, Tubman escaped and subsequently made some 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 enslaved people, including family and friends, using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad.
