Bear country now includes Adair County

The most recent map from Kentucky Fish and Wildlife shows Adair County now as resident bear range, the core bear range just a few miles away yet. Early documentation of searchings and sightings were reported in Ed Waggener's Blue Ribbon Bear Board reports in CM archives.

Scenic Kentucky: Washington Post Office

The Washington Post Office is the only working log cabin Post Office in America. The log cabin housing the post office was moved to its current sites and reconstructed with the original stone fireplace and dove-tail notching.

The Simon Kenton Shrine is an authentic log cabin built in 1790's, constructed as a general store operated by Lee, Lashbrooke & Company General Store. Named to honor Simon Kenton, who once owned a store in Washington.

7U Adair County All Stars advance at State

Sarah writes, "The 7U Adair County All Star team won in the first round of state competition. They beat South Oldham 9-1 on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Thank you to all our sponsors!"
