Home, a place Steve Smith wasn't sure he'd see again

2020-12-28 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Robin Smith.
Doctor's didn't give much hope that Steve Smith would make it through COVID-19 but after 54 days in the Medical Center in Bowling Green, he was allowed to come home, on oxygen, exercising great care to avoid the possibility of exposure to germs. His family is praising God for the extraordinary gift. He is pictured here walking into his Green Hills home in Columbia.

Teacher and pets in class with students and pets

2020-12-28 - Adair County, KY - Photo from family collection.
Deb Waddell, Adair County Middle School science teacher and President of the Adair County Education Association, is pictured here "in class" - a virtual classroom - sharing her pets with her students who also share their pets from their homes with the class.

In their virtual classroom experiences of 2020, she says she has met many of her student's pets, including guinea pigs, cats and dogs, and a horse.

Helping Deb with this class are her dogs, from left: Jake, Sammie, Lola on top, and Belle. There is one more dog, Ellie, not pictured, and five cats. "Yeah," she says, "that’s how I rumble. Lol." A few of the students for this class were: Gary Parish, Malana Burton, Savannah Pearson, Emily Hart, Reese Bardin, Ryder Chapman, and Crystal Mendoza.

Christmas holiday ice

2020-12-28 - Taylor County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
While our area didn't receive the heavy snow of Christmas 2020, we did get the cold and plenty of ice to go with it. It's a time of year to drive more cautiously and keep a lookout for black ice on the roadways. If it looks wet it could be frozen and send the tires skidding.

From Jones Chapel, prayers for all

2020-12-27 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Terry Partin.
Early morning Worshipers at the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church drive in service, were treated to an unusual display of numerous aircraft contrails as Christmas travelers hurried on their way home. At times as many as 9 aircraft could be seen as they made their way to destinations unknown. Prayers were in order for an end to the current Pandemic and unknown travelers, as well as Church family, community and our Nation as we prepare for a new year filled with Peace Love and Hope.
