Jessie Sloan Turner is 1st baby of 2021

The team members and medical staff at T.J. Samson Community Hospital are delighted to welcome the first baby of 2021, Jessie Sloan Turner. She was born at 6:25am on January 2, 2021, weighing 6 pounds and 10 ounces and was delivered by Dr. Malisha Baldwin. Jessie is the daughter of Kailey and Jake Turner of Burkesville.

Christmas gift traces military journey of a beloved uncle

As a Christmas gift, Melissa Katherine Walton-Shirley put together this shadow box with mementos from the military career of her uncle Gorden Roberts, who served in Japan during World War II. She says, "It's interesting that I could learn so much from a wooden box about a man that I thought I knew nearly everything about. I am so grateful that I opened it and was able to put this memory board together"
