Worried about the little calf

2021-01-10 - Near 2400 Knifley Road, Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
I worried about the little black calf but his mother was close and checking on him in the face of black vultures hanging too close for comfort. For better or worse, vultures are protected by the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. Under that act, vultures, their nests and eggs can't be killed or destroyed without a Migratory Bird Depredation Permit. For more information on getting a permit, contact the County Extension Office or the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife.
