Columbia Police Department welcomes K-9 Cally

Cally is a two-year-old yellow lab, specifically trained in drug detection. She and Officer Foster have already aided in several arrests and investigations in Columbia.

Patteson & Stotts ad from 90 years ago

In March 1929, Messrs. J.F. Patteson and M.L. Grissom, founders of Columbia's first modern funeral home, went their separate ways. Shortly thereafter, enterprising young Columbia merchant Dallas Stotts joined Mr. Patteson and the establishment became known as Patteson & Stotts.

It's perhaps somewhat less remembered the two were partners in another Columbia enterprise they operated under the same name, as shown in this ad found in the Adair County News from ninety years ago this week.

Projected snow accumulations

The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Winter Storm Warning, as two waves of wintry precipitation will move across the region between Sunday and Tuesday. Columbia remains in the area with the greatest uncertainty about projected snow accumulations.

If you must travel over the next couple of days, be sure to keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
