Getting the vaccine this week 2021-02-25 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. COVID-19 vaccinations are ongoing at several places in the area and this was the scene as three of us waited at the Adair County Health Department to make sure there were no reactions after getting our Moderna shots, before leaving. Misty May, standing, is a Community Health worker with LCDHD, was helping direct and observe after the vaccinations, reminding us all to move our arms around throughout the day to help with any soreness, and to stay hydrated. At left is Robbie Burton who was having his second one. He gave his permission to be photographed and said he recommends it to everyone when their turn comes. At right is Bill Henson who had received his first one and said, yes, the photo will prove to his wife that he really did get his shot. Connie Arnold was the nurse who gave me my shot. She was there from the Taylor County Health Department, part of our ten county Lake Cumberland District. Columbia Magazine is proud to share news of the vaccine rolling out and photos are welcome. We are still listed in the red-critical stage of infections so the fight continues to wear the masks, physically distance, wash hands thoroughly and get the vaccines. Miss Vicky Pike prepared a breakfast banquet for the team setting pumps in place on the well drilled in on her Pampered Angus Ranch right before the ice storm hit. Country ham, biscuits, fried potatoes, white gravy and red-eye gravy -- and blueberries for health.
