Scenic Kentucky: Herrington Lake
 2021-02-26 - Central Kentucky - Photo by Evan Waggener. An unnamed stream flows into Herrington Lake, not far from Gwinn Island. According to Wikipedia, Herrington Lake is the deepest lake in the state of Kentucky, With a maximum depth of 249 feet (76 m). Dix Dam, the dam that made the lake, was the largest earth-filled dam in the world at the time, and considered to be a major engineering feat.

Looking ahead for Adair County's recycling
 2021-02-26 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Bridget Compton, Adair County Fiscal Court Clerk and Solid Waste Coordinator, said she is hopeful that the next budget, starting July 1, 2021, may allow for the Recycling Center to reopen. The pandemic and loss of labor meant it had to be closed for the remainder of this budget year. Click on the following links to review Adair County's Solid Waste position last summer. The Center is fully closed now through the end of this budget year, June 30, 2021:

This time last week

This is the view from the Sheriff's vehicle as he responded to calls during the ice and snow storms last week. We are looking at a weekend of rain but temperatures are nowhere near freezing, so no ice in the next few days.

Happy anniversary Eddie and Alanna Franklin
 2021-02-25 - Florida - Photo from family collection. Eddie and Alanna Hudy Franklin recently enjoyed their first anniversary in Florida with their new little baby Eli. Eddie wrote a note to his wife, "Our first year of marriage had plenty of surprises, but it’s been my favorite year so far! I can’t wait to make a million more memories with you and Eli!" The little one is the grandson of Columbians Ed and Lillie Franklin and the first great grandchild of Barbara Franklin.
