Nelson, Nevada

2021-04-24 - Nelson, NV - Photo by William Lamkin.
William writes, "There are photo opportunities everywhere walking around in Nelson, but there are also rattlesnakes and a plethora of mean cactus that seem to jump out and get you. And they will get you good!

It was hot and dry but we found gold in them hills! Just not the kind of gold you're thinking of."

Teaching your dog the importance of literature

2021-04-23 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Pen.
Most guides on the internet will list food, water, shelter, and exercise as key to your dog's health and happiness. What few of them mention is the importance of a rich cultural environment for your dog. In this photo, nine-year-old Hailey Waggener reads poetry to Churchill the Dog.

Research has shown that dogs are more receptive to poetry about themselves, so Hailey has written something appropriate, extolling his virtues and comparing Churchill's mane to that of a Mighty Lion. She has provided it on a single sheet of paper, in case he'd like to taste the poem after hearing it.
