VFW Post 6097 holds Sunday service

Veterans of Columbia Post 6097 held their Memorial Day service, however, due to the pandemic it was held outside this year. The weather was good, if a little on the cooler side, for the event Sunday, May 30, 2021, and there was just enough wind to make the Flags fly high.

Happy 90th Birthday, Dr. George Webb!

May 28, 2021 was Dr. George Webb's 90th birthday and he was honored with a proclamation making it "Dr. George Webb Day in Columbia" by Mayor Pam Hoots, at right. Family members pictured with him on his special day were his wife, Elizabeth, their son, Dr. Steve Webb and wife, Laylon, and grandchildren Collin Webb, Mary Elizabeth Simons, and Lauren Simons.

At the Veterans Roadside Park

The warm sun and clear skies over Memorial Day weekend made the American Flag shine at the Roadside Park on Hwy 55 South. The new Flag was installed just before the holiday weekend by the VFW Post 6097 and the sign is being painted naming it the Veterans Roadside Park.

Wild Lights at the Louisville Zoo

One of the largest lantern festivals in the nation took place at the Louisville Zoo in May, featuring thousands of handcrafted silk-covered lanterns aglow with more than 50,000 LED light bulbs.
