Blake Martin Memorial Basketball Game raises $5k


2021-06-06 - Columbia, KY .
The Blake Martin Memorial Basketball game took place Saturday night at the John Burr Memorial Gym. Former players helped raise $5,000 for the Asher and Avery Martin Education Fund.

Pictured are former head coach John Shelley, Joseph Willis (07)Devin Bell (05), Nick Fudge (09), Chris Lewis (07), Jacob Burton (04), Adam Coomer (05), Cameron Murrell (09), Kevin Bridgewaters (03), Bryan Bailey (05), James Flatt (06), Kalen Kimberland (08), and former assistant coach Chad Bell.

The 2000-2010 players pulled out a one point overtime win over the 2011-2020 players.

The Royal Columbians

An ad that appeared in the June 10, 1931 Adair County News with an intriguing final line, "Music by the Royal Columbians."

Only a scant handful of mentions of the ensemble appeared in the paper, one of the others coming a month earlier, the Royal Columbians Orchestra having provided the musical entertainment for the C.H.S. Senior play, "Oh Kay!," a comedy-mystery.

Mapping Brood X Periodical Cicadas in Kentucky
